Genesis Eight

"The Lord smelled the pleasing aroma
and said in His heart:..."

-----Genesis 8:21

After being on a boat for anywhere between
150-200 days,
we find Noah building again.
Instead of preparing for water, he builds for fire.
Noah builds an altar, a place where we dedicate to or commemorate the greatness of our Heavenly Father.

This is a weird thing to me in this chapter.
Noah is placed in a world where the population consists of his family reunion. I would think that there could be some fears that may come up.

None the less, Noah dedicates the first part of the new chapter in his life to God. It says that the Lord smelled the PLEASING AROMA.
I wonder if the act of the heart is what made the aroma sweet.

I am reminded today that God will bring us to the end of a chapter leading to the next chapter. The attitude I take into the next chapter is important to the direction in the end of the new chapter (if that makes sense). Noah dedicated the first part of this new chapter to God. As I am opened up to new chapters, I long to do the same.

ALSO...
Did you catch in v.13 that God starts Noah over
on the first day
of the first month.
(Talk about a New Year's Resolution!)
