Genesis Thirty - Eight

"Judah said, 'Bring her out and have her burned to death!'"
-----Genesis 38:24

It is interesting how Judah's perspective changed when he realized he had played a major role in Tamar's pregnancy. He goes from a desire to burn her to considering her more righteous than he is. When we feel that we have been wronged it is easy to jump to the most outlandish of conclusions.

But what happens when we find ourselves on the other side of that coin?
What happens when we helped someone wrong ourselves?

Judah was willing to give away as a pledge, the seal to his family line. This is not just any little thing to give away. This was his identification for his family heritage.

Much of the time, taking part in sin will cost you something dear to you. A relationship, an opportunity, your self pride. It is easier to play the part of the victim. Judah tried that, until he realized that he too had played a significant role. Be careful when you are to the point where you want to burn someone to death for something they did to you. You may be just as guilty.

"Father, help me today, to see sin how You see it. Let me know how incomplete it truly is."
