Genesis Twenty -Three

"The Hittites replied to Abraham, 'Sir, listen to us. You are a mighty prince among us. Bury your dead in the choicest of our tombs. None of us will refuse you his tombs for burying your dead.'"

Influence will take you further than talent will.
When you are able to have influence with more people than just yourself you have the opportunity to tap into their talents as well. This process is what makes great teams great. Multiple talents leading in one direction. Many believe that it is talent that makes the leader. Talent is just talent. Take professional athletes for example. All of them have talent. But it doesn't take much to see that responsibility is not a necessity in having talent.

As a leader influence will get the vision ball rolling faster and farther than you can imagine. When we have influence with others we do not dictate their actions. We have the chance to channel their efforts toward a single goal. Everyone has influence with someone.
