"Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives' tales; rather, train yourself to be godly. For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come."
----- 1 Timothy 4:7-8
Our pursuit to a deeper relationship with God is referred to as training a few times in the new testament. Today as I think on these words a few thoughts arise:
1. Just because I was physically fit three years ago does not mean I will stay that way.
2. The accumulation of skipping reps or cutting short the exercise will eventually have an effect on me.
3. Getting rid of some excess weight will be easy at first but more difficult later.
4. To be healthy I need to change the patterns in my life (eating, exercise, sleep).
5. I am at my best when I stay away from junk.
The good news is that these thoughts also apply toward my spiritual walk as well.
"Father, help me train to reflect You in my life."
Heart and Soul,
