"But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, 'God, have mercy on me, a sinner.'"
-----Luke 18:13
Humility matters. Especially when it comes to reflecting the life Jesus lived. It can be so easy to live in the world of self promotion. In fact, if you do it long enough you may even start believe your own hype. I think that is what we are experiencing here with the Pharisee.
My desire is to be that of the tax collector. That I would remember the state I was in and the change I received because of God. And as others experience me they would see a life of gratitude and praise toward my Heavenly Father.
"Jesus, help me wear the clothes of humility over my own praise."
