1Timothy Five

"Do not rebuke an older man harshly, but exhort him as if he were your father. Treat younger men as brothers, older women as mothers, and younger women as sisters, with absolute purity."
-----1 Timothy 5:1-2

Paul is writing this letter to his younger protege, Timothy. Apparently, Timothy potential was so high and his relationship with Paul so endearing that Paul will ask him to travel to meet with him before he dies (this happens at the end of 2 Timothy).

Timothy was sent by Paul to the church of Ephesus were he served as a church leader to counter false teachings that was popping up. This advice we see in how to interact with people is insightful only if applied.

Paul writes to Timothy but also to us. In a world where love should abound over all things. These relational guidelines are a must:

Older men are to be treated as fathers because of the wisdom of life experiences.

Younger men are to be treated as brothers because of the influence young can have with them.

Older women are to be treated as mothers because of they have sacrificed so much in their lives.

Younger women are to be treated as sisters because they are precious jewels to be protected at all costs.

"Father, help me interact with people in a way that glorifies You."

Heart and Soul,
