"I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you. However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven."
-----Luke 10:18-20
I wonder how the disciples took the declaration that Jesus saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. Did Peter and John give each other strange looks? Did Bart chuckle a little only to catch himself as he straightens up to see Jesus looking at him? Did Thomas speak up from the back with a mumbled, "I DOUBT IT"? There was war in heaven. In that war events were set into motion that we experience still today.
Jesus lists some incredible authority powers here and reaffirms the disciples that nothing will harm them. But He says, that is just 'stuff', and to not brag about it. He instructs them that in it all, when they rejoice, let it be because they are God's children.
"Jesus, thank You for choosing to rescue me from the ordinary."
