I am sitting here this morning at the kitchen table with my son, Barak. I am working, he is eating and watching SpongeBob (I know what is wrong with this scene). As I think about the man I hope he becomes, this chapter offers great insight. It serves as a road map to parenting. Some of the greatest lessons are observed pupil to mentor, child to parent, son to father. If I make the choice to live out the words of God, then there is a better chance Barak will exhibit similar qualities.
We read this morning quite possibly the greatest lesson ever verbalized. It is entirely possible to take the rest of the month to meditate on this chapter and we would still be finding "nuggets" going into December. But meditation that leads to inaction is a waste of time. Jesus does not give us these words as "good ideas." These instructions and statements are meant to lead to action.
"Jesus, help me today to find direction in Your word."
Heart and Soul,
