"Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites!"
-----Matthew 23:13,15,23,25,27,29
Jesus uses what appears to be a new word here. It is not recorded anywhere before in scripture. He uses a word that is translated in the Greek---'ouai' (oo-ah'ee). This word means an exclamation of guilt. I have read this passage in the past and took it to mean Jesus was chastising the teachers and the Pharisees. I believe differently now. I think Jesus is looking at these men and it in effect saying, "Guys, you are not getting it and it is breaking my heart."
This morning I am reminded that at times I don't get it. Some excuses may be legit but most are because I know better and choose a different path. I will make it a point today to be mindful of what Jesus wants me to keep as a priority. I want to 'get it' right every time for Him.
"Jesus, help me see the paths You are choosing for me."
