Romans Six

"Don't you know that when you offer yourselves to someone to obey him as slaves, you are slaves to the one whom you obey-- whether you are slave to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness?"
-----Romans 6:16

"...you are slaves to the one whom you obey..."
We tend to think that our loyalty is like a buffet. Do the things you like, ignore the ones you don't. Paul writes here about the one we give our loyalty to is the one that we obey. In fact, he says we become it's slave.

It is important to remember that he is writing to a society where slavery is an accepted form of business. This has to do with the issue of dominance. Who is in control.

Paul makes it pretty simple. We can be slaves to either sin or obedience. One leads to death the other leads to righteousness. We make this choice every day in our actions and the reflections of our hearts.

What will you choose today?

"Father, help me learn more about dieing to sin and being alive in You."
